MainLine Solar

Delaware 2012

Residential
As a turnkey solar photovoltaic (PV) installer and developer, MainLine Solar, LLC has been following the solar PV incentive markets for years now. We have seen state SREC markets rise and fall with system owners’ financial returns riding the tides. However with the development of Delmarva’s new, state-wide SREC procurement program in 2012, solar PV system owners in Delaware will be able to receive a guaranteed rate of return on their investment for 20 years!

Our Beginnings

In 2009 (with the removal of the cap on the 30% Federal Tax Credit and the introduction of the Pennsylvania Sunshine Rebate Program) MainLine Solar was founded in West Chester, PA by Bucknell University Alumni. By the end of 2011, dozens of solar PV installations in Pennsylvania had been installed by MainLine Solar. However in 2011, Pennsylvania’s SREC prices dropped from over $300/MWh to less than $50/MWh. In defense of our present and future clients, we visited Harrisburg several times during 2011 to make the case for saving the solar PV industry in Pennsylvania. As it became clear that the Pennsylvania state legislature was unable or unwilling to act in a timely manner to help solar PV system owners, MainLine Solar thoroughly investigated other state’s incentives programs.

Our Move

At the end of 2011, we decide to move our business from West Chester, PA to Newark, DE. Paramount in our decision was our commitment to ensure that our previous clients in Southeastern Pennsylvania could still receive quality warranty and maintenance services. Of course, looking to the future we realized that 2012 is going to be the year of Delaware, and 2013 is not looking too bad either.

2012: The Year of Delaware

For more than a year now, Delmarva has been developing a program for SREC procurement that balances the cost to utility ratepayers and incentives for solar PV system owners. The result is recently released SREC Procurement Program, which will offer agreements that define a solar PV system owner’s SREC price for the next 20 years. These agreements make it possible to know what your financial payback will be prior to the installation!

The enrollment period will be opening April 2nd and will likely fill up quickly, so for Delaware homeowners, businesses, and other institutions that have considered solar in the past now is the time to act to ensure the best deal.
